Developer appeals against Peak District planning refusal

Derbyshire-based developer Litton Properties has announced that it will lodge an appeal against the decision to refuse planning consent to a £25m regeneration scheme in Bakewell.

The developer will re-submit revised plans for its Riverside Business Park and appeal against the Peak District National Park Authority’s decision to refuse planning permission to the scheme in February.

Litton Properties’ plans include new business space and infrastructure including a bridge.

Litton Properties’ managing director, Mark Twelves, said: “We were extremely disappointed in February when our scheme was rejected for planning, following an exhaustive nine-year design and application process.

“It has taken time to re-assess the scheme in light of this setback but we have now decided to both appeal the Peak Park’s decision and to re-submit revised plans.

We remain committed to regenerating this important site and creating a first class business environment, which we truly feel is important to help the future prosperity of the town and surrounding villages.”
