De Mello leaves Harper Dennis Hobbs

Harper Dennis Hobbs executive director and head of retail consultancy Jonathan De Mello has left the agency.

Sources have indicated De Mello is on gardening leave and is set to join a new property agency soon.

De Mello, a well-known commentator in retail circles, joined HDH in 2014 as its head of retail consultancy. Before that, he worked at CBRE in the same role for four years, from 2010.

Previous roles also include director of retail and property consultancy at Experian and managing consultant at CACI.

In his role at HDH, De Mello’s responsibilities included recruiting and managing a team of consultants and analysts, spearheading strategic retail consultancy projects and creating client strategies.

James Ebel, chief executive of HDH, said: “We would like to thank Jonathan for his time working at Harper Dennis Hobbs, and we wish him all the best in the future.”

Following his departure, HDH has promoted senior retail consultant Andy Metherell as its new head of consultancy.

Metherell worked at HDH for six years as a senior retail consultant. In his new role he will focus on data analysis and consultancy services for the company’s international clients.
