Crown Estate appoints chief digital officer

The Crown Estate has appointed former BP vice president Linda Morant to the newly created role of chief digital officer.

She will start in September and report directly to Crown Estate chief executive Dan Labbad.

Morant has more than 20 years of experience in the digital field, most recently as BP’s vice president of downstream digital for more than three years.

She was previously managing director EMEA for Microsoft, overseeing its IoT devices operation. She has also held director positions at Nokia, where she worked for more than 10 years.

Labbad said: “I am delighted to welcome Linda to the Crown Estate. Her deep knowledge and experience of digital technology and transformation, drawn from a wide range of sectors and international markets, will be invaluable as we look to harness the power of digital products and services to improve what we do across every part of our business.

“Longer term, we want to create a digitally confident culture and take a leadership position that helps us to generate more value in the broadest sense for our customers, stakeholders and the nation.”
