Craig McWilliam departs Grosvenor

Craig McWilliam has left Grosvenor nearly a year before he was due to take over as group chief executive from Mark Preston.

The group said he was departing for private reasons.

James Raynor, the former chief executive of Grosvenor Europe, has therefore stepped into his new role as chief executive of Grosvenor Britain & Ireland with immediate effect, nearly nine months before he was due to take over from McWilliam.

Raynor has spent the last few months as the executive director of Grosvenor’s London estate.

Grosvenor Group said it would now review its succession plans for the group chief executive role, which McWilliam was due to take on from 2021.

Mark Preston will continue to lead the group while also fulfilling the role of executive trustee of the Grosvenor estate and head of the family office, while the succession plans are reviewed.

He is supported by Peter Vernon as group executive and by Rob Davis as group finance director.

Mark Preston, chief executive of Grosvenor Group, said: “James Raynor has been preparing to take over this role for several months and will ably step up ahead of the original timetable to play a key role in enhancing the way we develop, manage and invest in property while positively contributing to the communities in London, and elsewhere in the UK, in which we are active.”
