Council mounts £40m bid for Blackpool Tower

Blackpool council is close to striking a deal with local tycoon Trevor Hemmings, which will see it take ownership a number of major leisure attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower.

The council has mounted a £40m bid for the tower, as well as the town’s Winter Gardens, Sea Life Centre and Louis Tussauds leisure attraction, and expects the deal to be done by the end of the month.

The council is also in the market looking for an operator to run the attractions on a 20-year lease.
