The number of company insolvencies has grown by 16% compared with the previous year, on the back of high energy prices and rising debt costs.
Business insolvencies jumped by 37.7% month-on-month to a total of 2,457 in March, according to findings from the Insolvency Service. In March last year, there were 2,120.
High-profile insolvencies in recent months include Paperchase, Made.com and Joules.
