The Law Society is close to confirming Nurton Developments’ 2 Colmore Square in Birmingham as the home of its new 60,000 sq ft Midlands headquarters.
The legal profession’s representative association plans to consolidate its two existing offices in Leamington and Redditch and will relocate up to 600 staff in the move.
A board meeting took place yesterday to finalise a decision. Although no announcement on the preferred location has yet been announced, Nurton’s office scheme has emerged as favourite to win the requirement.
The Law Society is being advised by BNP Paribas Real Estate and has also looked closely at other office schemes, including The Cube and the former LeFarge offices close to Birmingham International station.
Rupert Young, development director at Nurton, said: “We are awaiting feedback and remain hopeful.”
The move will build on Birmingham’s reputation as a major legal centre following the Office of Legal Complaints’ 40,000 sq ft relocation to Baskerville House last year.
An estimated 7,000 lawyers work in Birmingham.
