The Co-operative Wholesale Society board has agreed to the transfer of engagements of Co-operative Retail Services (CRS) to form a£4.5bn-£4.7bn merged business.
The amalgamation will be completed on April 2.
The enlarged organisation will have 1,100 supermarkets and convenience stores.
