Cluttons: what good practice really looks like

Following the success of EG’s Future Female Leaders project in 2019, we have pledged to continue our programme of training the industry’s future leaders with at least two further cohorts in 2020.

Back in partnership with Ginger Public Speaking, a range of women from across the built environment will again be undergoing Ginger’s intense training schedule, learning the skills and building the confidence to be not just a future leader, but a leader today.

Culminating, just like in 2019, with a high-octane and overwhelmingly inspiring event in the summer, this year’s Future Female Leaders project kicks off officially on 20 February. But before we meet this year’s cohorts, let’s hear from some of our key partners on FFL: the second coming.

Passion, pride and team spirit – these are the three words I use when I talk about the finale of last year’s Future Female Leaders programme

Why Cluttons is supporting Future Female Leaders

At Cluttons, we invest a great deal of time and energy in ensuring there are opportunities for everyone in the workplace, and that people feel there is an opportunity for personal development and progression. However, when good people development is part of an organisation’s DNA, it often goes unnoticed and uncelebrated, and is sometimes taken for granted.

Programmes such as Future Female Leaders are not just about celebrating one individual but about giving us all an opportunity to think about what good practice really looks like. Are our employees feeling rewarded at a personal level? Do we offer everyone the chance to shine every day? And do they feel that they can put forward ideas and suggestions for doing things differently? This is the spirit of the programme, which we can take back to the workplace and involve everyone, whether they are a new graduate or a practitioner with 20 years’ experience.

This year, our future female leader is Lucy Whitfield, an associate in our residential valuations team. She sees Future Female Leaders as an opportunity to help her develop her skill set and confidence, as well as to bring her learnings back to Cluttons for everyone to develop.

Like many of her peer group, she will have to juggle her workload and the pressured deadlines that come with valuations to make the most of the programme. I am sure that, like Victoria Martin, our future female leader of 2019, she will make the most of this fantastic opportunity and that it will equip and inspire her to become a future leader in our industry.
