An exceptional £4.4m charge for closing some farms and shutting its factory in Spalding, Lincolnshire, knocked back pretax profits at Bernard Matthews for the 28 weeks to July 12 from £6.67m to £5.3m.
Underlying profits jumped to £9.75m.
