City’s big beasts cancel plans to bring staff back to the office

Britain’s biggest banks, law firms and accountants have cancelled plans to bring thousands of workers back to their London offices.

Thousands of staff were told yesterday to keep working from home as firms including JP Morgan, HSBC, Goldman Sachs and PwC reversed plans to return workers to the office.

A number of incentive schemes designed to encourage staff to get back to their desks have also been scrapped following the government’s abrupt U-turn on Tuesday.
