Cushman & Wakefield and its clients have raised more than £31,000 for the NHS Charities Together appeal by organising a virtual version of its annual Rob Worboys Arran Challenge.
The sporting event was established four years ago in honour of agent Rob Worboys, who died suddenly at the age of 27. The event has to date raised more than £100,000 for various charities.
The challenge is usually held on the Isle of Arran, with participants cycling, running and climbing to various points around the island, but this year, owing to the Covid-19 restrictions, it took place remotely.
Instead of completing the 56-mile cycle around the Scottish island, followed by an 874m climb to the peak of Goat Fell in a single day, 62 teams of five completed the distances wherever they could over seven days between 13 June and 19 June, with times recorded on the Strava app and collated by C&W.
There was also the option to take part in the Half Worboys individual challenge, a 27-mile walk that is equal to the distance from Machrie to Brodick on the Scottish island.
Chloe steps up for next generation of BAME property professionals
Chloe Prince, a graduate surveyor at Savills, has raised £1,560 for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust by completing the Chiltern Hills 10-mile Chess Valley walk.
She was inspired to take on the challenge by the worldwide Black Lives Matter movement.
The money raised could provide a mentor for one year to three students on the Building Futures programme, or support an undergraduate architecture student with a bursary towards study costs.

Derwent gives hospital free use of Fitzrovia flats
Derwent London is to make 16 furnished flats at its newly completed development in Fitzrovia free for University College Hospital.
As part of the company’s support for the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic, the flats at 80 Charlotte Street, W1, will be used by the teaching hospital for the rest of the year.
The move is one of several initiatives by Derwent to support the local community through its Fitzrovia and West End Community Fund. The voluntary fund was launched in 2013 as part of the developer’s ongoing sustainability programme and commitment to developing community engagement.
Housing the homeless beyond lockdown
Crowdfunding platform Beam is working with London landlords to help homeless people into stable housing beyond lockdown.
The social enterprise already crowdfunds job training for homeless people and supports their efforts to find work. Now, it is working with landlords to place these individuals into permanent accommodation through its new Beam Lettings service.
Through Beam’s website, homeless people are able to crowdfund a rental deposit and first month’s rent for free, helping some of the hardest-to-help people move out of homelessness for good. To help fund a brighter future for someone, go to: https://beam.org
Fore fitness challenge
Fore Partnership has launched a Strava fitness challenge for networks at its sites at Windmill Green in Manchester, Tower Bridge Court in London, and Cadworks in Glasgow.
The Strava initiative invites runners and cyclists to challenge themselves physically to raise money for LandAid’s Covid-19 Emergency Fund.
Cadworks competitors who sign up to the challenge between 18 June and 18 July will have 10p per mile matched and the additional money raised will be divided between Scottish charities Social Bite, which helps the homeless, and Refuweegee, which supports refugees.
