Charity and social: Argyll Club travels the world and the seven seas for Felix

The Argyll Club has completed its London 2 London fundraising challenge, with employees, friends and family collectively “circling” the globe to raise more than £7,500 for charity.

More than 200 participants from 14 countries and four continents travelled virtually from The Argyll Club’s flagship London workspace at 1 Cornhill to its headquarters in St James’s Square – via the world. The team chose various modes of daily exercise, which included walking, cycling, hopping, skiing, roller skating, skipping and skateboarding, to complete a total distance of 25,000 miles.

The money raised will be donated to The Felix Project, a food redistribution charity helping to feed the 1.5m London adults who struggle to afford to eat every day, and NHS Charities Together, which supports charities which focus on help for  NHS staff and volunteers.

Do Some Good for young LGBTQ+

A team of property professionals behind the Do Some Good initiative – a portal set up by professionals from SAY Property Consulting, deverellsmith and Greystar to pool real estate support during the Covid-19 crisis – is supporting akt, a charity helping young LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25 to find a safe place to live.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, akt has seen a spike in cases of homelessness owing to young people being confined and inadvertently or forcibly being outed to families and guardians.

akt is working alongside Purple Door, which provides the safety and space for young LGBTQ+ people to secure longer-term housing, employment, training and help with money management, while learning to live independently.

A survey by EG found that 81% of LGBTQ+ property professionals felt that not enough was being done nationwide within the industry to promote the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. Purple Door is hoping to attract more support from the industry and, throughout June, Do Some Good will be raising awareness and promoting the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community through #seemenow on LinkedIn.
