The College of Estate Management in Reading has announced it is to become University College of Estate Management.
The change was approved by the Privy Council on 11 November, following a period of scrutiny by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
UCEM said the achievement acknowledged the college’s status in its provision of offering online vocational education for the built environment industry.
Ashley Wheaton, principal at UCEM, said, “Gaining a university college title further confirms UCEM’s status as a leading provider of supported online learning for the built environment worldwide.
“The title won’t change the way we work or the qualifications we offer. However, we plan to provide additional programmes over the next few years to continue meeting the requirements of students, employers and professional bodies.
UCEM has more than 3,000 students from approximately 100 countries and teaches property-related programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level alongside professional development and corporate training courses.
