CC Land poaches Landsec director as head of development

Justin Black

Cheesegrater owner CC Land has appointed former Landsec director Justin Black as its first UK head of development.

The hire is a coup for the Hong Kong-listed company, which will benefit from Black’s substantial local development experience. As development director at Landsec, he oversaw the development of Nova, SW1, a 1m sq ft mixed-use scheme in Victoria.

Before joining Landsec in 2011, he spent seven years as both a development and board director at Brookfield Developments (previously Multiplex Developments). Black will be based in London and will report to Adam Goldin, who heads up CC Land’s UK subsidiary office and formally joined the company last week after leaving Resolution Property where he was head of UK investment.

His initial focus is expected to be on Nine Elms Square, SW8, which CC Land acquired earlier this year in a joint venture with R&F Properties for a major residential development. The investor is scouring other development and investment opportunities in the capital as it builds on its existing portfolio, which includes the Leadenhall Building, EC3 and One Kingdom Street, W2.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr Dickie Wong, deputy chairman of CC Land said: “The appointment further demonstrates our dedication to our UK investments, ensuring that we establish ourselves as a first class investor and developer in the UK.”

CC Land is also planning to hire an analyst, bringing the London office at 8 Hill Street, W1, to four people in January. Jason Leong, who was formerly based in the firm’s Hong Kong office, has relocated to London to focus on the asset management side of the business.
