Caterham Cars races into Dartford X industrial park

Manufacturer of lightweight sports vehicles Caterham Cars has chosen Dartford X industrial park in Kent as its new base.

The firm will occupy Unit D, measuring 54,000 sq ft. The new facility will allow the firm to increase efficiencies by bringing together its current three separate manufacturing sites.

Dartford X spans across nine acres and was acquired in December 2019 by Railpen, the investment manager for several pension schemes including the Railways Pension Scheme, and developed in partnership with Wrenbridge. The joint venture has delivered five new grade-A warehouses ranging in size from 13,000 sq ft to 75,000 sq ft.

Alastair Dawson, senior asset manager at Railpen, said: “We have worked closely with the brand in the search for a new home, with Dartford X meeting all of Caterham’s criteria to support the business’s continued growth over the coming years while retaining local jobs and its supply chain partners.”

Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE and Glenny represented Railpen and Wrenbridge. Vail Williams acted for Caterham Cars.
