Canary Wharf Group has revealed plans for a 55-storey build-to-rent tower to replace previous plans for offices at Park Place, E14.
The new proposals shared in pre-application public consultation come after EG revealed that CWG was to ditch the 1m sq ft office consent in favour of BTR, earlier this year
Park Place will provide 624 flats, designed by SOM. The scheme includes four floors of mixed-ue commercial, called the Pavillion, new public plazas and new connections through the site, linking Westferry Circus to Cabot Square.
Park Place is located on the western side of the Canary Wharf Estate, to the south of West India Avenue. The site is vacant, but was previously occupied by the headquarters of Littlejohn Frazer, in a 1980s office.
The exhibition boards state: “We are now considering a mixed-use scheme comprising residential and other uses, including co-working, cultural and retail spaces in this location, which would add more vibrancy and variety to the estate along with our neighbouring Newfoundland residential development.”
CWG recently opened the 58-storey Newfoundland, with 636 flats managed by its operating platform Vertus. Newfoundland opened in May this year. Subject to planning consent, the developer aims to start on site at Park Place in 2023.
