Canary Wharf Group has submitted a planning application for a 3.65m sq ft mixed-use project in Canary Wharf, E14.
The North Quay scheme, which lies directly north of the Canary Wharf estate and the new Crossrail station, will feature four towers. These include:
- a 47-storey, 1.7m sq ft office tower
- a 67-storey tower containing 726 flats for private sale
- a 60-storey tower containing 514 flats for private rent and 216 serviced apartments
- a 30-storey tower containing 183 affordable flats
The Foster & Partners-designed plans also include 270,000 sq ft of retail space and 26,000 sq ft of cultural/leisure space. The scheme is expected to generate around £45m in community infrastructure levy payments.
Canary Wharf said in a statement: “The proposed development aims to create a public realm adjacent to the dockside for local residents, workers and visitors to the area, offering enhanced connections between Canary Wharf and surrounding neighbourhoods, in particular Poplar. It also aims to maximise access to Crossrail for residents of Poplar and workers at Canary Wharf.”
