Bywater gets nod for latest timber scheme

Bywater Properties has got the go ahead for the refurbishment and extension of 123 Golden Lane, Clerkenwell, EC1.

Bywater, which bought the 18,607 sq ft building in December last year for just over £8m, plans to extend the building by around 4,000 sq ft through the replacement of the top storey with two new floors of modern workspace.

The firm, set up by Iceland boss Richard Walker, will undertake a “comprehensive and sympathetic” refurbishment of the existing warehouse accommodation on the site, with the new floors constructed using a mix of mass timber products.

The project is scheduled to be completed and ready for occupation in autumn 2025.

The scheme has been designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects; DP9 advised on planning.
