Birmingham City Council will be forced to sell some £750m of assets as it seeks to plug its funding gap and bring itself out of special measures.
The announcement came has the council announced its budget, which would also see it cut public services by £300m and increase council tax by 21%.
The council declared itself effectively bankrupt last year when estimated liabilities for equal-pay claims from several thousand employees jumped to nearly £800m.
