CBRE’s UK advisory chairman Michael Brodtman is set to retire from the business, after a 40-year career at the agency.
Brodtman will step down on 30 June this year. He joined CBRE from St Quintin, which became part of the business in 1999.
At CBRE, Brodtman led its valuation and operational real estate departments, growing specialist teams in emerging sectors and internationally. He moved into the role of chairman in January 2020, where he has been focused on supporting the firm’s management and growth.
He has represented CBRE with the RICS, BPF and Bank of England Commercial Property Forum. He was also a non-executive director of IPD, as well as housing association Places for People.
CBRE will not replace him in the chairman role, instead allocating Brodtman’s responsibilities to others within the firm.
Ciaran Bird, divisional president, advisory services, chief executive, UK & Ireland, said: “Michael is a true industry expert who has been instrumental in helping to grow CBRE. He has had a tremendous impact on our business, developing strong client relationships and supporting the careers of many.
“We are immensely proud that Michael has enjoyed such a long and successful career with CBRE, and we wish him all the best for the next phase in his career and life.”
Brodtman said: “I cannot thank colleagues and clients enough. To have had a ringside seat at the heart of UK real estate has been a massive privilege. I have enjoyed a long and stimulating career at CBRE and I am incredibly grateful to CBRE, friends and clients for all their support over the years.”
