Brixton set to get 320-bed co-living scheme

Plans for a 320-bed co-living scheme in Brixton, SE24, have been tipped for approval this week by planning officers.

The scheme, Hardess Yard, has been submitted by LGL and Mitheridge Capital Management and will see the demolition of a collection of 1980s built industrial buildings close to Loughborough Junction. The site does not fall within Lambeth Council’s strategic industrial land area, but does sit within its creative enterprise zone.

The proposals comprise 320 co-living beds with communal kitchens, co-working spaces, gym, lounges and a screening room. It will also deliver 15,000 sq ft of industrial space, which will cater to the creative industries and provide top-quality studio and commercial space.

An affordable housing contribution of just over £9.2m will be made in lieu of any affordable units within the scheme.

Maddox is advising on planning.
