LISTEN Joining Sarah Jackman in the studio today are not one but three guests: Vanessa Hale, head of insights and residential research at BNP Paribas and chair of ULI UK; Yohance Harper, associate partner at Quadrant Estates; and Mo O’Connell, quantity surveyor at Gardiner & Theobald.
Both Harper and O’Connell are ULI Young Leaders, and all three are involved in the ULI mentorship programme – a year-long scheme which is open to its Young Leaders and pairs small groups of mentees with a senior-level executive mentor in the real estate industry.
They reflect on the benefits of both formal and informal mentoring, whether it be in developing a network or receiving careers guidance, and talk about how to approach the relationship to get the most from it.
They discuss, too, how it can be a hugely beneficial relationship for the mentor and enables those in senior-level positions to give something back, as well as to learn from those in more junior levels of the profession.
