BNP Paribas Real Estate has hired Samantha Rowland as its new head of healthcare.
She will be joined by Colin Rees-Smith, who joins as a senior director.
Both Rowland and Rees-Smith (pictured) are joining from Savills and will start their new roles in January.
Rowland has more than 20 years’ experience in the healthcare and senior living sectors, covering everything from retirement villages to children’s homes, advising clients including L&G, abrdn, Aviva, Inspired Villages, Investec, PegasusLife, BlackRock and Octopus Healthcare.
Rees-Smith has a 30-year track record in the healthcare market, working with NHS trusts, U&I, Cerberus and Telereal Trillium.
Stephen Wolfe, head of commercial at BNP, said: “The healthcare market represents the ultimate ‘life cycle’ sector and the UK’s demographics will ensure it continues to attract significant investment from some of the leading names in the commercial real estate sector. The opportunity is significant. With that, Samantha and Colin’s arrival further cements our position as a leading adviser.”
Rowland said: “We are undoubtedly entering a period that will see an even bigger focus on the sector. Investment in healthcare attracted record levels last year, and the breadth of assets continues to diversify as new capital enters the market.
“But as the core market and key sub-sectors mature, the need for specialist advice and a full-service offer has never been greater.”
