Plans to build a 19-storey office tower in Bloomsbury, WC1, have been recommended for approval ahead of Camden Council’s planning meeting next week.
If given the go-ahead, BC Partners will redevelop Selkirk House, demolishing the 17-storey former Travelodge hotel on the site and replacing it with a taller tower.

The proposed development would comprise buildings of between six and 19 storeys and 44 homes totalling 42,000 sq ft. This would include 19 affordable homes.
It would form part of a wider mixed-use development that would offer residential space, offices and flexible town centre uses at ground floor, plus enhanced public realm.
New buildings on the site would include a stepped 19-storey office building on Museum Street, plus two six-storey residential buildings at High Holborn and Vine Lane. There would also be a series of new and refurbished residential buildings on West Central Street. All properties would have town hall uses at ground level.
Planning papers lodged with the council said the existing buildings on the 57,000 sq ft site are in “disrepair” and that the DSDHA-designed scheme would restore features of heritage importance.
The project would also create a pedestrian link between the nearby British Museum and High Holborn and would feature a pocket park.
Camden’s planning committee will vote on 16 November.
