Blackstone adds auditorium to new London HQ

Blackstone plans to construct a 250-seat auditorium across the top floors of its new London office.

The buyout giant agreed a deal to prelet the entirety of the 226,000 sq ft Lansdowne House at 57 Berkeley Square, W1, in 2022.

Now, new paperwork lodged with Westminster City Council by the Sultan of Brunei’s Juramia seeks to amend an earlier planning approval and add an auditorium across the eighth and ninth floors.

“Blackstone envisions the upper two floors as a multifunctional space, providing a first-class client suite as well as training facilities for their employees,” said architects at Allford Hall Monaghan Morris in planning papers. “The focal point of this space will be an auditorium, centrally located and facing Berkeley Square.”

The design statement described the auditorium as “a front room on Berkeley Square”, to be used for “a wide range of functions including lectures, weekly meetings and training”.

On the eighth and ninth floors of the Co-Re managed project, changes to the approved development would include pushing the facade out, while the terrace space on the eighth floor would be retained across the front of the building.
