Bidwells names Nick Pettit as senior partner

Bidwells has named Nick Pettit its new senior partner, taking over from Patrick McMahon in January.

Pettit joined the consultancy in 2003 to set up and grow its project management team and develop its building consultancy division. He became an equity partner in 2020 and has led the firm’s work setting its diversity and inclusion strategy and sustainability activities.

In his new role he will also oversee the firm’s Scotland business, working together with the division’s managing partner Finlay Clark as his deputy senior partner.

McMahon held the senior position for 12 years and was recently named as the head of a new mixed-use development team. https://www.egi.co.uk/news/bidwells-launches-mixed-use-development-consultancy-team/

Bidwells has tracked record levels of investment in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc’s office and labs space in 2021. The year-end figure is set to pass £1bn, compared with £452m in 2020. https://www.egi.co.uk/news/oxford-cambridge-arc-sees-record-office-and-labs-investment/

Pettit said: “The international spotlight is now on our core markets after the pandemic showed just how resilient and innovative they are, with global capital lining up to invest. We have seen an explosion of interest and opportunity in both the Arc and sustainable investment with major funds now targeting exposure to natural capital assets.”

He added: “We began making the links between zero-carbon development, biodiversity net gain through development and carbon offsetting a while ago now. The whole property industry now recognises the importance of delivering good, green development and our teams really get how to go about doing it.”
