A bid of £725,000 secured a town centre car park site in Basildon, Essex, guided at £450,000-plus, at Andrews & Robertson’s 22 February sale.
The Homes & Communities Agency sold the 0.24-ha (0.6-acre) site, which has 50 parking spaces and development potential subject to planning.
The auction at the Montcalm Hotel, W1, raised £28.8m from 81 lots, a success rate of 81%.
