Fund manager BentallGreenOak has backed Nordic developer Bulk Infrastructure’s plans to create the world’s largest, greenest data centre.
BentallGreenOak plans to invest NOK1.5bn (£128.9m) in the business, joining main shareholders Bulk Industrier and Geveran in a series of capital injections set to take place from January. John Carrafiell, BentallGreenOak’s co-founder, will join Bulk Infrastructure’s board of directors.
The investment will allow Bulk Infrastructure to continue to develop its N01 Data Center Campus in south Norway. The company aims for the 740-acre site to be the world’s largest data centre campus powered entirely by renewable energy.
“We want to unlock the potential the Nordics and renewable energy has to offer in sustainable digital infrastructure,” said Peder Nærbø, founder of Bulk Infrastructure.
“With a top-tier international investor like BentallGreenOak in our company, we will enable faster growth and better scale for our opportunities. This provides us with a great platform for reaching our vision of bringing sustainable infrastructure to a global audience, and to serve the biggest and most demanding customers out there.”
Arctic Securities, Pareto Securities, PwC and Schjødt advised Bulk Infrastructure on the partnership. BentallGreenOak was advised by Wiersholm and EY.
