Begbies buys SDL as insolvencies rise

Begbies Traynor has bought SDL Property Auctions as it gears up for an expected increase in the number of companies going under.

The national firm of property auctioneers, headquartered in Nottingham and employing 46 staff, will be folded into Begbies’ earlier purchase, Eddisons, to broaden its coverage.

Begbies said it was on a hiring spree as it expects an uptick in administrations and insolvencies.

Begbies said it is mainly smaller businesses that are going under, although administrations, which typically involve larger, more complex cases, are approaching pre-pandemic levels.
