BCSC under review

BCSC-2015-logo-BCSC 2015: The BCSC is undergoing a strategic review to make itself more relevant to its membership and today’s market.

In their opening speeches, both David Atkins, Hammerson’s chief executive and BCSC’s president, and John Coyne, chief executive of the BCSC, acknowledged that its members wanted the organisation to modernise.

“Many of you feel [BCSC] isn’t relevant, so we are looking at exploring changes to our brand, and our identity,” said Coyne. He added: “We have to be in a position to lead and to represent our membership and much has already been done in our current strategic review.”

Atkins promised that after the review, which has one month to run and has already canvassed members, the BCSC board will “undertake a full review of the BCSC brand”.

Coyne said the review would look at the direction the organisation will take in the next five years.

He added: “We are very clear that this is a pivotal moment in the organisation’s journey. We will ultimately create a new industry body that will take us forward for the next 10 to 20 years.”
