Landsec has appointed Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock as an independent non-executive director.
She will take up the role from 1 January 2025.
Casey is an independent adviser on social issues, chair of the Institute for Global Homelessness and a visiting professor at King’s College London. She became a cross-bench peer in September 2021.
A former British government official, she has worked on issues relating to social welfare for five prime ministers over the past 23 years. In 2023, she led the Casey Review into the Metropolitan Police in which she outlined a service suffering from institutional racism, misogyny and homophobia.
Landsec chair Sir Ian Cheshire said: “Modern businesses face ever increasing scrutiny to demonstrate how they are contributing positively to the country’s social fabric.
“Landsec is already active in this area, and Louise’s appointment strengthens the board’s expertise – there are few people more expert than Louise in understanding how corporate decision-making impacts people’s lives. We look forward to benefiting from her perspective as we shape the future of places around the country.”
