Barnard Marcus auction unloads 53% of lots

Barnard-Marcus-logoBarnard Marcus raised £19.6m from its latest sale with 53% of lots sold.

Unless the success rate is boosted by post-auction sales, it will be Barnard Marcus’s lowest this decade.

Out of the 202 lots listed, 19 sold prior to the auction at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2, and 88 sold in the room.

Top lot was a freehold three-bedroom terraced house in SW6, which sold for £1.2m.

The lowest priced lot was a freehold long-lease ground rent on a double-fronted end-of-terrace house near Accrington, Lancashire. It sold for £6,500.

A freehold semi-detached house spread over 2,468 sq ft in Richmond, Surrey, remained unsold after the last bid of £1.9m.

Despite the drop in its success rate, Barnard Marcus raised slightly more than its September 2015 sale. Its biggest sale so far this year came in March, when it raised £32.7m from a 210-lot catalogue, a 77% success rate.
