Property developer Chris Stewart Group has prelet office space at 20 West Register Street, Edinburgh, to Baillie Gifford.
The investment manager will take 60,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation at the The Mint Building, which forms part of £85m mixed-use regeneration project The Registers.
The building, designed by Hoskins Architects, has been acquired by Hines in a forward purchase agreement on behalf of its European Core Fund.
Baillie Gifford will take seven upper floors and the fifth and sixth floor terraces. The building will be capable of accommodating around 700 staff when it completes in early 2019.
The Registers also includes The Edinburgh Grand, which hosts 50 serviced apartments.
Chris Stewart, chief executive of Chris Stewart Group, said: “The agreement with Baillie Gifford is very positive news for Edinburgh and for the continued transformation of St Andrew Square and the east end of the city centre.”
Alan Paterson, partner at Baillie Gifford, said the building’s location was a key draw. He added: “It offers us flexible space as we plan for the long-term expansion of our client base, and will be an attractive working location for our staff.”
