Avison Young principal dies from Covid-19

Avison Young has paid tribute to its principal Peter Keir, who has died from Covid-19.

Keir was a partner focusing on development and investment in industrial and logistics assets from the Midlands office.

He worked in commercial property for 26 years, with previous roles at North Rae Sanders, St Quintin (now CBRE), and JLL.

Keir joined Avison Young in 2016 following the acquisition of North Rae Sanders, where he worked as a partner for 19 years.

Jason Sibthorpe, Avison Young’s UK president, said: “Peter was an inspiring, charismatic and caring leader within Avison Young and this is a tragic loss for us all. He gave knowledgeable, well considered advice and always acted with total integrity, humility and humanity.”

Managing director Andrew Jackson added: “He was a loyal and thoughtful friend who cared deeply about his colleagues; the essence of a true gentlemen. He will be greatly missed by many people throughout the property industry.”

Robert Rae, managing director and founding partner of NRS, said: “He had a major influence in developing a great team spirit through his professionalism combined with his wonderful sense of humour. He was very much a proud family man who cared deeply about Jacqueline, James and Tamarah.”

Avison Young said it would be making plans to celebrate Keir’s life in due course.
