In the April to June quarter, the average price for residential properties was £130,681, according to figures released by Registers of Scotland.
The figure compares with £124,481 in the January to March quarter.
Scotland’s Lothian region, which covers Edinburgh, recorded the highest figures with an average house price of £168,914.
However, the Glasgow area remains the largest market, with sales of almost £1.5bn for the three-month period.

The figures include cash transactions that do not involve a mortgage, which occurs in more than 20% of sales.
