Argent’s David Partridge has said he does not foresee an exodus of tech occupiers from the UK as a result of the EU referendum result.
Partridge, who has signed Google for a £1bn HQ at Argent’s King’s Cross campus, N1, said demand from tech occupiers could “get even stronger” following Brexit.
He said: “They are [already] UK headquarters rather than European ones. Whether they’re here, whether we are in or out of the EU, the need and the demand that the UK puts on its tech companies is going to continue. There’s no doubt about it. Arguably it will get even stronger.”
He conceded that financial services jobs could be at risk but was confident about the enduring attraction of London to investors.
A supporter of Remain, he said the result this morning came as a shock.
But he said property companies would look to close down any risks and get back to work on Monday.
He said: “We’ll all dust ourselves off and go back to work on Monday morning and deal with this new reality and just get on with it.”
