The Glenn Howells Architect-designed scheme will be a new £1bn civic hub for the city and will see the current Central Library and other buildings flattened to make way for a mixed-use scheme of around 1.5m sq ft.
A public consultation exercise is being held next week within the Paradise Forum mall on Tuesday 9 February and Wednesday 10 February.
The consultation will look at the potential redevelopment options for the eight-acre site, on which Argent is working jointly with Birmingham city council.
The site is currently home to the Copthorne Hotel, Conservatoire, Birmingham Central Library and Paradise Forum and lies between Centenary Square and
The site is in multi-ownership and both the council and Argent want the area to be a modern, updated version of Argent’s Brindleyplace, with wide boulevards linking the area to Brindleyplace, the Jewellery Quarter and towards Colmore Row.
The duo is now working towards producing a masterplan for the area.
