Battersea Power Station has confirmed Apple as the anchor tenant for the iconic building.
The tech giant is expected to move to its new London campus in 2021 and has secured 500,000 sq ft across six floors of the central boiler house.
Apple said it looked forward to opening the office, which will account for 40% of the total space in the development, and that it was a great opportunity to have its entire team working and collaborating in one location. Around 1,400 employees across offices in the city will relocate to the SW8 scheme.
The transaction represents the largest office letting in London’s wider West End in 20 years.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “I am delighted that Apple is moving into Battersea Power Station, helping to generate new jobs and economic prosperity for Londoners. It is a further sign that London is open to the biggest brands in the world and the leading city for trade and investment.”
Rob Tincknell, chief executive of Battersea Power Station Development Company, added: “It has always been our clear objective to create one of London’s most thriving new communities and this commitment from Apple will undoubtedly help us achieve our goal.”
