A gothic church on a restricted-access island owned by the Ministry of Defence is being offered as a home for a “recluse, celebrity, or someone who just wants to get away from the rat race” by Dedman Gray.
St Mary’s Church, on Foulness Island, Essex, has permission for conversion into a one-bedroom flat above an office and community space, and is guided at £100,000-plus.
The island has a population of 151 and all visitors must pass through a checkpoint.
The auction takes place at the Holiday Inn, Southend-on-Sea, on 30 March.
