A mid terrace Georgian house in central London, which sold under the hammer for €1.1 million (£880,000), was the most expensive property sold at the Allsop Space auction in Ireland this week.
The building in Fitzwilliam Place comprised a house in use as an office building with a residential mews in the rear. It sold off a maximum reserve of €880,000 and was, said Gary Murphy, auctioneer at Allsop Space, “a really cracking sale”.
“Bargains are a difficult term for an auctioneer to use because we like to think we’ve got the last cent out of the market,” Murphy said.
“The hope is people will come to the auction with the hope of getting a bargain and then compete aggressively and we’ll get a great price, and we really did get some great prices today.”
The sale, held at the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, raised a total of €17.8m (£14.3m) off a success rate of 93%.
