Allsop has overtaken Savills to become the UK’s largest residential property auction house in the first half of 2016.
Allsop’s receipts from 737 lots offered across three auctions grew by 5% year-on-year, to £203.2m, according to the latest figures from Essential Information Group.
Savills offered 766 lots at four auctions, raising £194.9m, which was 8.9% less than last year.
However, Savills’ success rate was 82.1%, versus Allsop’s 78.4%.
SDL Bigwood achieved the highest success rate at 92.3% from 261 lots.
The top two auction houses had slightly lower market shares this year, with Allsop falling from 12.3% to 11.7% and Savills down from 13.6% to 11.2%.
Meanwhile, newcomer Lansdowne Property Auctions has leapt into the top 15 after holding its first auction in March.
Although offering only 83 lots between January and June 2016, its average lot size of £334,500 was the fourth highest, after Strettons (£366,250), McHugh & Co (£359,941) and Allsop (£351,604).
The total raised by the top 15 was £1.7bn – up 10.8% on last year – with a success rate of 72.5%, down from 74.7% in 2015.
