Allied unveils Clarence Dock plans

Allied London has published its masterplan for Leeds’ Clarence Dock.

The firm bought the 150-year lease to the dock for £1.5m from Lend Lease in Janaury. It bought 38 shops and restaurants, of which 28 were vacant, plus the head leases of the 1.2m sq ft riverside estate in a bid to transform its fortunes.

Allied’s plans inclde the creation of new shopping and dining street, and a workspace hub for the digital industries.

It will be renamed New Dock – the name by which the area was known from its opening in 1843.

The redevelopment is expected to be a three- to five-year project.

Clarence Dock, which was developed by Crosby Lend Lease in 2008, currently comprises shops, restaurants, flats, offices, a conference centre, hotel, casino and car park.
