Allianz Real Estate and EDGE have teamed up to transform the Forum building in Amsterdam into a premium, innovative and healthy office space.
The redevelopment will add 107,000 sq ft to the existing 204,000 sq ft of office space in the building. EDGE Stadium, as the building will be known, sits opposite EDGE Olympic Amsterdam.
“The redevelopment of the Forum office, where we will introduce cutting-edge technologies into one of our existing buildings, exemplifies our innovative spirit and our approach to future-proofing our assets,” said Allianz’s chief executive for Western Europe Alexander Gebauer. “Active asset management is a key part of how we add value to properties on a long-term basis, particularly with regards to the latest environmental standards and innovative technologies. The EDGE Stadium building is no exception.”
Coen van Oostrom, founder and chief executive of EDGE, said the new project would be the next generation of smart redevelopment, in which all the aspects from the neighbouring EDGE Olympic are improved.
EDGE Stadium is set to achieve BREEAM Excellent and WELL Core & Shell Gold certifications and will have a targeted reduced energy consumption of approximately 70%. The property will incorporate the latest in smart technology, including EDGE’s own platform – EDGE Next – to optimise its performance and make it smarter, healthier, and more sustainable. The platform uses multiple sensors and data sources to gather information and deliver actionable insights to building operators and tenants.
The building’s existing atrium will also be extended by creating a wooden hybrid top-up, more open spaces will be delivered in the building with biophilic design utilised and a roof terrace installed.
EDGE and Allianz expect to deliver the redevelopment in by the end of 2022.
