Multinational engineering firm AECOM has taken a 20,000 sq ft prelet at an LGIM office development in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
The deal is the largest office letting in St Albans for several years, and will see the global infrastructure consultant occupy the ground and first floors of 10 Bricket Road.
The 43,000 sq ft, BREEAM Excellent scheme was developed on behalf of LGIM’s segregated mandate fund by Canmoor.
LGIM Real Assets fund manager Ali Farrell said: “Securing an occupier of AECOM’s calibre is a landmark letting for St Albans and a tremendous start to the leasing of this building.”
Canmoor asset and development management director Sam Walker said: “This letting justifies LGIM and Canmoor’s decision to speculative redevelop this building as occupiers continue to seek best-in-class offices.”
AECOM’s Europe COO Andy Barker said the letting reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to St Albans, but also represented a significant step in moving towards net zero.
Knight Frank advised LGIM and is retained with Bray Fox Smith to market the remaining 21,351 sq ft.
AECOM was advised by Cushman & Wakefield and will take occupation in 2022.
10 Bricket Road is due to complete in December 2021.
