Acuitus to live stream May auction

Commercial auction house Acuitus will press ahead with a live-streamed auction on 21 May, after cancelling its March sale due to the tightening of Covid-19 restrictions just four days prior to the sale.

In a note to clients, chairman Richard Auterac said the May sale would offer multi-channel bidding via online, telephone and proxy routes.

Acuitus also said that it had developed an online platform for selling single assets, “which provides vendors and investors with the flexibility to access the market outside the usual auction calendar”.

Auterac said the firm had continued to conclude sales over the past three weeks.

After the first stage of Covid-19 restrictions banned large gatherings, Acuitus made plans to offer remote bidding only for its 26 March sale with a live stream of the auction from the ballroom venue. However, the lockdown announced on 23 March prompted it to cancel the event. It had been due to offer 47 lots.
