A £1bn expansion of Peel Group and Legal & General’s MediaCityUK has been approved by Salford City Council.
Phase two of the regeneration project will see the creative and digital hub double in size over the next decade. It will include 540,000 sq ft of offices, 1,800 flats and retail and leisure space.
Outline plans were approved in 2006. A condition of that permission was that detailed proposals, including all building designs and specifications, needed to be brought forward in 2016.
MediaCityUK is a joint venture between Peel Land and Property and Legal and General Capital. Some 250 businesses have located at phase one, including the BBC, ITV, dock10, Ericsson and SIS.
