MIPIM UK 2015: Pop-up enabler Appear Here has secured sites for a clutch of new stores this month, including for DJ Jamie XX.
The DJ has opened the Colour Store on Kingsland Road in Hackney, N1, to promote his new single until 24 October.
Elsewhere across London, Appear Here has secured deals with landlords including South Kensington Estates and Transport for London to open pop-ups for skincare brand Kiehl’s at Embankment station, WC2, foodie co-working space Kitchen Table Products on Brompton Road, SW1, and skate brand Converse at Hoxton Arches, E2.
London Distillery has also opened a pop-up on Greek Street, W1, until 25 October to entice Londoners to invest in its latest crowdfunding initiative. The store will host events including an urban beekeeping workshop and a vintage Martini night, where visitors can sample gin from the 1930-1950s.
The rise of the pop-up was discussed this morning at a breakfast seminar opening MIPIM UK.
Appear Here founder Ross Bailey said: “Large owners of retail property are increasingly receptive to the idea of using short-term leases to keep locations fresh. Some are going so far as to create dedicated resources in their organisations.”
